Sometime ago i came across this international brand that’s making waves around the world named after Swaziland but is not available in the Kingdom. It even looks like it might not even be necessary to sell it here because Swazis don’t seem to be the target market.
What you see below is a clothing brand called Swazi™ (and yes! I did that trademark thing on purpose). This New Zealand Company “owns” the trademark to that name.
How anyone can translate the Swazi legacy of adventure, integrity and trust into reliability, durability and immortality is nothing short of amazing. This New Zealand made clothing line is a tangible translation of our very own KaGogo.
This clothing company has been in operation in New Zealand for at least 20 years and employs 60 people. It looks like the close nit Swazi manufacture ensure that each garment they make passes through the stringent of test in order to adhere to the quality standards of the company.
Hand crafted in New Zealand, each Swazi garment carries with it a piece of the Swazi legacy woven in each piece of fabric used. The brand is known to deliver on performance regardless of its outdoor use, be it for a farmer, adventurer or hunter.
The interesting twist here as well is that this Swazi brand is proudly New Zealand.
“WE ARE PROUD TO BE A NEW ZEALAND CLOTHING BRAND AND WE ARE PROUD TO BE RESPECTED AROUND THE GLOBE”
I am sure this sounds strange only to (us) Swazis – to every body else it’s just a brand like “Levi’s”, “Oak Tree” or “Jeep”. Goes to show what inherent value we have and lack the intuition to identify and leverage it.
